Reality is falling apart like damp cardboard, and Ela, a professional at avoiding her problems, is pulled into a quest to save the World by Joren. He may have a questionable grip on reality, but at least makes excellent coffee. Along with a group of reluctant misfits, she must hunt for the next fragment of a mysterious, magical piece of scrap metal to stitch the universe back together. It's a race against the end of the World, which is still less terrifying than actually having to graduate.
Join our heroes as they start their adventures, in the first book a series of books.
Ela is twenty-four and currently failing at her sixth university major. She was perfectly fine avoiding her life until she noticed the lighthouse sitting on a mountainside, three hundred miles from the nearest ocean.
Before she knows it, she is dragged into a different world with a team of people who can barely stand each other. There is Maera, a cranky elf assassin who is always half a second away from stabbing someone. There is Dornat, a dwarf who carries a boulder tied to a tree branch as a hammer. And then there is Sir Varro, a skeleton(?) knight(?) who is far too polite and theatrical for a dead man.
They are on a multi-dimensional scavenger hunt for pieces of a mysterious silver ring that feels like touching the sun. It's a job for heroes, but our group will have to do.
If you like fast-paced fantasy with dry humor, weird magic, and a main character who just wants to avoid her boring life at home, Tethered Horizons is for you.
