The book, Tethered Hearts & Roses, written and designed by Shawna Marie Fortier. The book design carefully represents a person wrapped in a shoot of the rose. The hair reaches the heart, and as you see it, it could be tethered, attached, confined, or it simply could be touching the heart. Unbeknownst, or acknowledging, like how hair floats across the waters, the hair touches the heart like seaweed. The hands in this picture, does the person play with the heart? Or is the person reaching out for it? Is the person trying to grab the heart and grasp it? We simply do not know. But we do, wonder. And we do ponder the question. The shoot of the rose is full of color, as if it wants to bloom, but does not have that adequate strength. Or maybe it does bloom, and it just needs more time. Like a relationship, each flower is a surprise before it blooms; it is different for everyone. Each is its own beautiful flower. The background is the manifestation of what happens in a relationship. It represents figures almost as if they were talking, it could be family, it could be gatherings, it could be celebrations. Art is very subjective, and this poem book is subjective to the reader. Tethered Hearts & Rainbows is the second edition of Tethered Hearts & Roses. The art design is that the shoot has now bloomed as a rose beneath the troubles and anguish of love. Here rests the heart, no longer needing to be tethered as a beautiful rainbow accomplished by the rain and now into the sight of everyone to witness. The woman now gone from the picture could be picking her own roses or leaving them behind. As she rests either in bed, or on the grass, she dreams full of love and treasures, maybe a leprechaun is behind such amusement. We simply do not know. Tethered Hearts & Rain is the third edition of Tethered Hearts & Roses. The rain now begins again as it start its renewal and peace. Maybe it gives the reader a seductive sense of calmness. Each rhythm of rain taps against the reader, maybe the woman in the grass is now drenched in passionate rain as each droplet slides over her skin. Maybe awakening something desirable from the heavens is a sensual melody, something deeper that we are searching for. Does the rain kiss the earth? We simply do know.
