With the advent of triple antiretroviral therapy and the development of the concept of combined prevention, knowledge of serostatus has become essential both at individual level, to improve well-being, and collectively, to reduce transmission of the virus. Screening has thus become the main means of access to care and prevention services, as confirmed by the UNAIDS 90-90-90 multisectoral strategy, whose first objective is to screen 90% of estimated people living with HIV (PLHIV) (UNAIDS 2014)Despite the creation of voluntary screening centers in the majority of countries, WHO estimates that 54% of PLHIV do not know their serostatus, suggesting that current screening models are failing to reach populations most at risk of HIV infection.
