This violence, which poisons human existence, is omnipresent and protean, taking on new forms that threaten international peace and security. Terrorism, one of the world's most widespread forms of violence, has survived the test of time, leaving an indelible mark on human history. In contemporary history, wars and murderous conflicts such as the two World Wars, the Rwandan genocide and the Srebrenica massacre have left their mark on contemporary international relations.
