Terre Haute Illustrated 1889 and Today 2022

1889 Mr. Charles Cochrane Oakey drove a horse drawn wagon over the streets of Terre haute, Indiana taking photographs of our city. 2022 My wife Marla and I traveled his path with her driving and my trying to stand where I believed Mr. Oakey stood taking these images. I have a profound respect for Mr. Oakey as it took us over 7 weeks to get the images we captured due to weather, traffic in the backgrounds and such. Mr. Oakey on his wagon, stopped unloaded a studio camera, attached the camera, and captured his images. No heater or air conditioning on his wagon. One note: Many places he photographed are no longer here so substitution was necessary on some images. Thank you Mr. C. C. Oakey and 1889 historical images of our city
