Reading was one of my favorite things to do growing up. I read a lot of things, from the stories in "The Bible," to DC and Marvel comic books. I loved reading encyclopedias - the set of books in alphabetical order on just about every subject. I also enjoyed reading the dictionary and loved words. The most interesting books, though, were biographies - the stories of real people, both past and present. Reading them inspired me. They showed examples of what people can do. They shared lessons that they learned and showed how they were able to overcome trouble and succeed. Reading their stories excited me as I imagined myself doing what they did. Reading about people was important in helping shape how I think and what I do. I also really enjoyed reading science books and finding out how things work and the history of how people learned new things. Reading made my life better and I hope this book about people that I think made the world better will encourage you to read about the people that interest you, and I trust that reading brings you joy and happiness and leads you to a better life.
