A Tantalizing Look Into Hidden Passions Within A Parochial Community

Ten Miles From The Nearest Sin spans several decades and follows a number of intertwined lives of those who follow the path of a specific religion. Among the topics skillfully interwoven in its storyline are love, faith, hope, sexuality, violence, parenting, and predation. The final consequences for the characters might be considered the judgment and mercy of god or may simply be the self-induced karma of the individual's guilt and/or faith. For readers who live outside of this religious paradigm - consisting of churches, hospitals and schools - this book provides a fascinating glimpse into its insular, protective-of-the-outside-world, nature and the subsequent challenges posed. For those are already part of this denomination - and you will recognize the one it is based upon, although it could be a number of Christian organizations - it provides a titillating glimpse of the effects of faith-based living, repression, hope, desire, anger and gender discrimination.
