For Halloween or Egypt review

My kid loved this. Includes math concepts (counting backwards), spooky mummies for Halloween, and Egyptian landmarks & animals. Would recommend.

Those silly mummies!

This counting book is all about mummies hiding and getting into silly situations. I read this aloud to Kindergarten students around Halloween, and they loved it. They insisted I read every fact about ancient Egypt in the back, and laughed at all the silly things that happened to the mummies as we counted to see how many were left. Afterwards, one of my students asked, "But why are the mommies wearing all those towels?" Oops- I forgot to explain what mummies were beforehand.

Funny and clever

Gave this to my kids around Halloween time. They love it, I love it. Catchy. My kids are around ages six and eight and it keeps both their attention and makes em laugh at the same time!

Wonderful book for all ages

I checked this book out from the library and my sons would not let me put it down. I have read it so many times and renewed it until the library stopped letting me. Not only did my [...] LOVE it but his [...] brothers did too. I am now going to buy it to add to our own library. I see it becoming a family favorite for years to come.

Mummy countdown

Fresh ideas for counting books are as rare as new Egyptian tomb discoveries, but Ten Little Mummies is a wonderful exception. Ten mummies get bored in the tomb and go out exploring. They meet with various adventures and mishaps until just one is left. So as not to damage the wee tykes' psyches with concepts of irretrievable loss, the author allows the mummies to reunite at the end of the story. In a world where falling anvils are edited out of classic Bugs Bunny cartoons, adults might feel a bit queasy about the dreadful things that happen to some of the mummies. But children look at the world a bit differently than we do and I think they will giggle with glee as the mummies face crocodiles, heat stroke, falcons and sand stroke. For those of you who might blanch with horror, remember the mummies are already dead. Other than the prospect of loneliness, which is resolved at the end, they aren't really in much danger. This book is a 2005-2006 nominee for the Maryland Black-Eyed Susan award in the picture book category.

This book is the perfect present as the characters are all ready wrapped and ready to go! Delightful treat! Its a good book for all children as the youngersters practice counting and older students learn more about Egypt!Great book!
