While not particularly an exciting read, this book does offer an accurate portrayal of the good and bad of school. It touches on all aspects, social and academic, and I found myself wondering where some of these children are now, 20 years later, if their hopes and dreams listed here have been fulfilled. It was good seeing a wide variety of perspectives on all topics. All the book did was really convince me that elementary school is the place I want to teach, and that middle/high school teachers are heroes for dealing with this kind of stuff (or, in some cases, the villains for *not* dealing with it/creating it). Well-rounded book, but dry. Rating: 3.5/5
