The purpose of this book is to help you prepare for working in the technology field, or fill the gaps in your existing experience. I want to give you an inside view into the technology field by describing many specific situations and outcomes that I faced, while working as a programmer. Topics covered include learning the right skills as a programmer, technical failures, best practices, recognizing signs of trouble in a business, acquisitions, corporate mergers, agile development, interpersonal situations, independent consulting, startup projects, and how to position yourself overall to be successful in this field. I won't be mentioning real person and company names here, but all examples given were real world situations. There are four main sections: 1. Getting prepared to work in technology.2. Interviewing and finding jobs.3. Lessons learned in the industry.4. Independent consulting. Each of the 15 chapters has a section at the end, where the key lessons are summarized in a short point form list. So if you're short on time, you can just check the end of each chapter for your 6-10 key learnings and look up the ones which interest you in each chapter. I believe in efficiency, as everyone's time has become scarce. That's why I structured the book with built-in summaries at the end of each chapter. There are at-least 125 lessons here for you to take away and apply on your own journey. I'd like to connect with you on any of the social channels and exchange ideas and experiences. Please let me know what you thought about the book. Cheers, and best of luck in your work!
