In the following pages the reader will find an overview of the current situation of the relationship between students at the basic levels of education (which in this case can include preschool, elementary, middle and high school) and the use of digital technology for educational purposes. It also offers an analysis of what could be done to ensure that students use these tools on a daily basis, given their importance in the first quarter of the 21st century. Although the text refers to the academic reality of Mexico, a country among the twenty largest economies in the world, the problems and probable solutions can be applied to other countries.
