I could not put Aimee's book down once I started reading it. I simply had to keep turning the page to find out what would happen next. I ended up reading this book in just one sitting, sloughing off everything else in my life so I could get to the end and find out how it all turned out. What Aimmee went through would be enough to snuff out the fire of anyone's life. If you're going through a tough time and you have no hope, read this book. It will show you the power of perseverance. Aimmee never gave up. Now she is helping others find their power and hope. Her life story stands as a beacon of hope for us all. You won't believe the atrocities she suffered. I think I read the whole book with my jaw on the floor. Her story is inspiring and she is a very courageous woman to share it with the world.
Truly Inspired

When I first began reading the story I had no idea that a person could go through so much and still have the strength to continue on with her life. Her story and courage is an inspiration to me.
A story of Tears and of Hope

A riveting tale that leads the reader through war, death, injustice, tragedy, obstacles, abuse and darkness to a final destination of triumph. How much can one young girl endure and still find hope? This book is not only inspiring, but sobering. It's a story that pricks the conscience, delves the soul, strengthens the spirit, and touches the heart.
Unforgettable journey of hope!

Wow...Life sometimes truly IS stranger than fiction! Aimmee's life story is definitely an example! Just when you thought things could not possibly get any worse...tragedy after tragedy, one misfortune after another and then yet another kept coming at her (just like the unstoppable bombs hitting her beloved Beirut), as if she was a calamity magnet. You know for sure something has touched your heart when it makes you cry, and this book certainly does just that: more than once...! The book, which is very easy to read, teaches also quite a bit about the Middle Eastern culture and traditions. I truly could NOT believe my eyes sometimes while reading it, though. I had to pick my jaw off the floor a few times! I even found myself saying out loud "THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE!", "I CANNOT, CANNOT BELIEVE IT!", for some of their "traditions" are very disturbing and unacceptable, especially in regard to how they treat/see women and what they make them do! Unthinkable! (It is my firm opinion that most people in this book deserve to be in jail!) By reading it, you'll appreciate your life and upbringing in the freer Western World ALL the more (especially if you are a woman)! What's shocking is that too many people end up having a nervous breakdown, or taking medications, or becoming very angry/vindictive people themselves toward others, or even committing suicide after ONE bad event happens in their lives, but Aimmee had almost everything and anything dreadful, you could think of (and more), happening to her and yet she came out alive and in one piece, without taking any drugs or being self-destructing in any way, or without lowering herself to the level of the "petty tyrants" in her life: she achieved it all simply by never giving up. I guess some people know instinctively that whatever doesn't destroy you, can only make you stronger! I highly recommend this book...to anybody who wants to see proof you can make anything happen and you can always turn things around, no matter how much life wants to test you! The victory at the end will be all the sweeter for surviving and there is no doubt Aimmee can forever appreciate even the smallest things or the bigger achievements in life, a hundred times more than most people ever will! After all, life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you decide to do with it. What's amazing and worth mentioning is that Aimmee because of her severe dyslexia disorder cannot read or write, yet she wrote this amazing book: it goes to show nothing can stop us to do what we want! It's a powerful message! Which even reminds me of Beethoven for composing his best symphony after turning essentially deaf! (That is, Symphony # 9... a.k.a. "Ode to Joy": which became the official European anthem!) Thank you, Aimmee, for gathering the courage to share this unforgettable journey of HOPE with us!
Amazing read

I don't like to read, but for some reason I couldn't put this book down, as cliche as it sounds. To know that someone overcame all these things, and came out a brave and strong woman, is more than just inspirational. She covers many topics from dislexia to the crises in the middleeast, to abuse, love, hate, disrespect, family, life, death and everything in between. She's experienced everything with no stability,no luxury, no happiness. The book helps you see how much you take your own life for granted. I loved every single page of it. It shows you the importance of family, the importance of being able to rely on yourself and no one else. It's about strength, sacrifice, and love. I'd recommend it everyone and anyone.
