The long awaited second edition of Cris Maloney's Teaching Hurdling is finally available. This edition has a larger format (easier to see the photos and coaching points), an expanded contribution from Darryl 'Doc' King, and a new contribution from Sofia Swindell. Maloney learned to hurdle in high school. He and his teammates---Doc, Bob Loch, and James Little---set the national record in the 480 yard shuttle hurdle relay. Maloney also finished second in his state's 330 yard hurdles championship. At only 5'8" tall, and not the fastest runner on the track, Maloney relied on developing the technical aspects of hurdling to propel him to success. In this book, Maloney provides coaches with an easy-to-follow exercise progression they can use to develop the art of hurdling in the athletes they teach. Hurdlers can also follow this progression without a coach's assistance. There is a special in-season and off-season hurdling workouts and goal setting contribution from King, Maloney's high school teammate and lifelong friend. King is Rice University's record holder in the 110 Meter Hurdles, a record that has thus far stood for 46 years. Another contributor is Sofia Swindell. Fun fact, Swindell is on the cover of Teaching Hurdling. The photo was taken prior to Swindell entering high school. During her four years in high school she broke World and Olympic Champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's high school state record. Swindell shares her story of an imperfect hurdling journey and her favorite drills to help high school athletes navigate their high school years.
