The concepts of the good teacher constructed by the exit cohort shared many of the same characteristics as those of the entry group. There was remarkable concurrence across both exit cohorts in terms of the key ideas found in their comments. The idea of the teacher as a competent professional emerged as the largest category with making comments in this area. The good teacher's attitudes towards the attracted a substantial amount of comment of one in ten students wrote about the kinds of personal and interpersonal characteristics the good teacher should have Subject knowledge (to a lesser extent that the old curriculum however), Imagination (regarding how to introduce a new topic for enquiry).
