An Amazing Read

This is a true story that never gives up. Joyce is a stong woman with a fierce determination to succeed in what needs to be done. With encouragement of her family and friends and the ability to laugh at herself, Joyce has overcome the obstacles presented by her injury. This book will bring hope and direction to those who are coping with traumatic brain injury.

TBI, a real problem with a real solution!

Joyce Hall's book, "TBI: Shaken, But Not Stirred",is a true life experience about how one person, Joyce, delt with TBI, and won! This book is a tribute to all people who are disabled, because it shows that standing up for your rights, instead of letting self pity take you over, can make you into a stronger individual! Joyce had a lot of obstacles in her way, but never gave up and found ways to overcome them. She had to make people understand what she was going through and, as she states over and over again in her book, that she was not crazy! I am a teacher of disabled children and Joyce's cousin. I am very proud of my cousin and have used her as a role model for my students impressing upon them that if you want something bad enough, than it is worth fighting for! Way to go Joyce!

What a ride!!!

The description of this "one woman's successful struggle" does not apply describe the sometimes sardonic and out of left field" happenings" that occur during the author's struggle. Between the court cases, the kids and a failing marriage, our heroine is far from sappy, or clichéd about looking at life as half full. She has issues damn it and no one is getting in her way. She also does not have a real good handle on the word "NO" because it just doesn't ever satisfy her for answers. There is no legal droning on here about the courts and our judicial system, but instead the reader is invited to watch how witnesses get lost, judges get shifted, and nothing ever seems to fall into place. All this in one person's life while in the background a marriage is imploding. Call me crazy but I found myself laughing at the strangest (and possibly most inappropriate) times. Anyone with TBI or who knows someone with TBI will certainly find herself with a friend who lives just like they do.

Moral: Never let the b*****ds get you down.

Some people are born tough, & others have toughness thrust upon them. This book is about someone who has been through it all, & is still standing. Humbling! A great read, too.

What an inspiration!!!!

WOW....all I can say is what an inspiring story...true life story. If you are feeling a little sorry for yourself in these trying times....Joyce's story of courage, faith and endurance will lift your spirits up. I started reading it and couldn't put it down until I knew the outcome. Anyone else might have hid under the covers and not face the world...but Joyce took on everyone and everything that got in her way and triumphed over every adversity,,,,,what a great book!
