1967. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are shooting The Comedians in Dahomey. Against this exotic West African backdrop and local political upheaval, their marriage begins to fracture.

1975. Reunited after a bitter divorce, Elizabeth and Richard arrive in Johannesburg as headline guests at a celebrity tennis tournament. On impulse, they divert to the wilds of Botswana to remarry. Is it a mistake?

1977. Richard is filming The Wild Geese in South Africa. Married now to Susan, he is sober and content. But Elizabeth - married now to a Republican politician - overshadows his life. They meet again in Johannesburg.
