In the heart of the untamed American West, Zane Grey's "Tappan's Burro" takes readers on an unforgettable journey of adventure, friendship, and the indomitable spirit of the frontier.Set against the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The lonely prospector with his faithful companion, the lowly burro, receives the respect and admiration they so richly deserve in the title story in this collection of five short stories or novellas. The character of Tappan is your usual grizzled, haunted by the past, type; but his faithfulness and loyalty to his beloved partner more than makes up for the stereotype. Jenet, the burro, has a most prominent role in the story, and this story is as good as the ones Zane Grey wrote about the lion dog, Don, or the wild stallion, Wildfire. The other stories in this collection are just as good, and these people come to life as only Zane Grey can make it happen. A solid group of tales of adventure ranging from the desert Southwest to the jungles of Central America. I recommend this book most highly.
Happy ending for the Burro

If you like happy ending stories (for the animals involved) you will like this one. I have always loved animal stories but so many leave us with the animal meeting a unhappy ending. Walt Disney loved to give us tear-jerker stories that left me sad and pathetic and I prefer that the animals not die. This story is great and the Burro ends up free and happy.
