"The Heavens will arrive inside of the Tapestry."
Those were the words of the New Catholic Church (NCC) as they conquered the solar system in the Millennium Crusade. Thirty years after their downfall, a cyborg, two "pagans," and an insomniac mercenary discover the lie, and the truth, behind the proselytization.
Framed for sabotaging Ganymede's terraforming project, these four flee to Luna on board a ship piloted by an A.I. modeled after a fifteenth-century heretic. Along the way, they encounter humanity's neighbors, each named after their curious analog in old Human mythologies: Dvergr pirates from Ceres, Alfar women-warriors from Mars, Selkian conmen from Europa, the isolated Halder of Titan, the monstrous Chimeres of Triton, and the nightmarish Seraphim.
Beneath the colored sky of the Tapestry-- a celestial event in deep space-- the ship and its unlikely crew discover truths about themselves, their peoples, and the war they inadvertently started.
Maybe the Heavens really are arriving. Or maybe Hell has been here all along.
