Tangle Journey reaches farther than the original Zentangle.

Tangle Journey takes off from Beckah Krahula's first book, One Tangle A Day. In fact, she references the first book several times. This book starts out with making your own sketch book. In fact, she tries to tell you how to make three kinds of sketchbooks. I struggled to understand what she was talking about, but I just want to learn about Zentangle, so I'm not really interested in making my own sketch book.. . She also goes into using tan and grey papers and building up shades with highlights and shadows. . . This is something that Rick and Maria explored in their project packs. She is using Zentangle as a jump start to other art. I understand that and I appreciate it. You can grow artistically by following her lessons on shading. She does use supplies that are different that the Microns that Zentangle uses. She also incorporates color into her lessons. Actually, I believe she considers this to be mixed media. Although I appreciate the encouragement to grow artistically, I think that you should be warned that this is not a "traditional" book about Zentangle, although Zentangle continues to grow. The recent project packs by Zentangle use different size tiles, different color papers, and different gel pens and markers to add color to their tiles. . .
