Faith reached down, picked up the journal, and returned it to Tilley. "This is our story, and you will tell it someday. It is a sad tale of perseverance, overcoming many hardships, but not once in that journal let it be said that Tilley Hall gave up. She fought for her life and her sister's; whether it was a man or a nasty old bear, Tilley always won. You, dear sister, will always win.
Faith took a deep breath, ready for a fight. "Oh, I am marrying Ellis in the fall, and if you haven't noticed that Jasper is in love with you and always has been, well, you are blind in more ways than one."
Faith waited for an answer, as she never received one, for Tilley had gathered up her quilt, shaking off the dust, then walked away. Faith will get no answer today.
