Sometimes the past we leave behind leads us right where we belong. Talulah Barclay doesn't like complications. Unfortunately, they seem to love her. Fourteen years after leaving her fianc? at the altar, Talulah returns to her hometown of Coyote Canyon, Montana, to settle her great-aunt's estate. As she'd feared, her "runaway bride" reputation is waiting right where she left it, and her ex's best friend, Brant, isn't about to let her slip by unnoticed. Brant has always been a loyal friend, but Talulah's decision to run isn't the only thing he hasn't forgotten. He remembers more about Talulah than he cares to admit. Vividly. And it's increasingly difficult to ignore her now, especially when they find themselves in close quarters. Talulah has no plans to stay in town after she fixes up her aunt's Victorian farmhouse, even if the unbridled sparks with Brant give her a good reason to linger. Talulah’s Back In Town (Coyote Canyon #1) by Brenda Novak
This was a novel that reminisced me of one of my favorite movies with Julia Roberts called “The Runaway Bride”. I loved that movie and I loved this novel! Talulah comes home to her hometown to take care of family business for a month, after fourteens years have gone by ands her first runaway bride attack in her hometown. In a small town, people don’t forget, and the jilted bridegroom and his family definitely don’t put it behind them!
But in every story there are twist and turns that keep you wanting to know what’s going to evolve next. She runs into the groom’s best man whom never warmed up to her when they were younger. She meets a new neighbor next door to her aunt’s place. Her parents have taken off for a year to be missionaries in Africa and her sister is about ready to deliver another baby in the next big city over. Her friend no longer wants anything to do with her breaking her brother’s heart at the alter, and her other friend has to walk on eggshells to be her friend so the other friend doesn’t turn on her. Small towns it’s hard to get away with much! To make things difficult the weather isn’t cooperating and it’s hotter than hot and that’s just making life more difficult.
Talulah wants everyone to know how successful has has become since leaving Coyote Canyon. With her culinary skills and her desserts. But she’s not only playing with fire in the kitchen but also in the bedroom with the most unlikely of people! And people are up in arms over it! Jealousy rules, vindictive actions take place, danger comes into play, and surprises abound in the end. Her partnership in business in Seattle has bumps in the road and even though she’s the major contributor she has decisions to make. Her partnership she learns can be a not so nice person when he wants to be.
Even though in total she’s been the runaway bride a total of three times and she couldn’t commit to someone she couldn’t force herself to love, she did finally find the substance and capability to find love in the man of her dreams. She also found a new business right in her hometown! Brenda was able to bring a great ending to a wonderful story for all the characters in this book!
