These "Tall Tales" are a series of articles published in the "Daily American Republic" newspaper. They tell the stories about the exhibits found inside the walls of the Poplar Bluff Museum. The poplar bluff was an Indian trading post located in a grove of poplar trees on a river bluff. It was built into a pioneer town by the timber industry and the railroad. Poplar Bluff survived the Civil War, Jesse James, and a devastating tornado. It has produced some of America's greatest heroes including professional and Olympic athletes, an Astronaut and a Medal of Honor recipient.
