Indeed these "tales" of fishing are entertaining stories of adventure, of catching the one that previously had gotten away, or of just enjoying the atmosphere and commaradarie of companions, or the mystical and magical environment of the faraway place. You don't have to be a person who fishes to enjoy these books.
