Pearl Zane Grey (January 31, 1872 - October 23, 1939) was an American author and dentist best known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts; he idealized the American frontier. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book. In addition to the commercial success of his printed works, they had second lives and continuing influence when adapted as films and television productions. His novels and short stories have been adapted into 112 films, two television episodes, and a television series, Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater.

Let me say right up front, I am not a fisherman, but I am a lover of Zane Grey and his books. I have enjoyed his westerns and historical fiction for 40 years, and have always wanted these "fishing" books to finish my collection of his works. This book does not disappoint if you like Zane Grey as a writer; for he tells each tale as he tells his westerns with the same descriptive finesse and appreciation of the environment around him. The stories in this book are a diverse group, ranging from Tampico, Mexico, the Yucatan, to Avalon and Catalina Island off the California cost. The fish he goes after are as varied--tarpoon, swordfish, tuna and more. Buy this book, sit back and relax as Zane Grey takes you fishing all over the world.
