Ken Tysiac's "In Tales from Clemson's 1981 Championship Season" is a fun and entertaining book about the magical 1981 football season. Tysiac relied heavily on interviews with the players and coaches to write this book. This short, readable book brings the team and season to life and should be read by all Clemson fans. Tysiac sets the stage by giving backgrounds on all of the players, coaches, and others (the AD, support staff, even IPTAY), and he brings them all to life through amusing anecdotes. Then Tysiac describes the 1981 season, game-by-game, but not in great depth. Through Tysiac's stories, you can see the dedication that this team had and the great leadership - not only from its Coach Danny Ford and the asssistant coaches, but also from the player-leaders. You can also understand why that season and team were so special - and why Clemson is so special. Although the book is a bit disjointed and sometimes reads like you're hearing a bunch of unconnected stories over some late-night beers, reading this book will give anyone a much better appreciation for the 1981 football season.
