Tales By Old Timer is a compilation of newspaper articles written for the Cedartown Standard in Cedartown, GA from 1973 to 1976 by Ralph Jordan. The stories are a history of the Old South from the early 1800s to the middle 1900s. Included are tales about the Cherokee Indians, Civil War, Reconstruction, The First World War, and The Great Depression. Since the articles were written for the Cedartown newspaper, there is much information about the history of Cedartown, Polk County and surrounding counties. Mr. Jordan wrote for the Goodyear's Wingfoot Clan Magazine from 1952-1962. In addition to the Clan, he had articles published in Southern Outdoorsman Magazine.His stories draw from his working years in the ore mines, railroad, steel mills and 38 years at The Goodyear Plant in Cedartown.
