This biographical fiction begins with the Civil War after Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. The conviction of Dr Samuel Mudd devastated the family and continued to haunt the Mudds for generations. The main character, J.T. Mudd, is a distant cousin of Dr Samuel Mudd who set John Wilkes Booth's leg. In the late 1800s Grace and J.T.'s families felt the war's impact as they built new lives in the west. The two eventually meet in a tough remote western town in 1907. Their lives are filled with adventure, tragedy, and romance. This novel is based on family documents, verbal history and actual historical events. Images of their original photos and letters are included. This book is in honor of their life experience, their courage and their love.
