Tablets in Education: Amazement, Astonishment, or Learning

Digital technology is currently the tool of choice, used, among many other functions, to serve as a backdrop for promoting "wonder" and "amazement"; however, it has become popular without bringing with it knowledge of its technique, much less access to it, which can be called "cyber or technological oppression" (VIEIRA PINTO, 2005, p. 27). "Awe" refers to causing astonishment or enchantment, the admiration of human beings in relation to nature or their works. "Amazement," on the other hand, translates into a kind of gratitude, a sense of wonder, astonishment, a 'breathlessness' of social groups subordinate to dominant groups due to the technology "made available." For Vieira Pinto (2005), amazement is provoked by the dominant classes to deceive the oppressed classes, making them feel, due to their technological backwardness, that they are living in the best of all ages of human history because they have access to a given technology. And the wonderment of making them believe in the happiness of living in this time, as if everyone participated equally in the technological era, attributing to technical civilization an increase in value, admiration, and gratitude.
