A good straightforward book.

I used this book last year for my Systems and Signals course, and I might have a bias opinion on this because the professor for that course was the author of this book, so believe what I say at your own discretion. This book covers the material quite well, it pretty much cuts out the crap and tells you exactly how to solve various problems. I haven't seen a clean cut book like this in a long time. If you're trying to understand concepts and purpose, this isn't your book. If you want to know what to do once you have some grasp of the material, buy this, even if your class doesn't require this particular book.
