Liquid crystals have emerged as fundamental components in a wide array of modern technologies, extending far beyond their conventional role in display systems. Their remarkable properties-such as responsiveness to external stimuli, light manipulation, and compatibility with composite systems-make them indispensable in cutting-edge applications including smart windows, medical diagnostics, advanced optical devices, and soft robotics.Azoesters, in particular, play a pivotal role in liquid crystalline systems due to their ability to modulate molecular alignment and phase behavior in response to light. This photoresponsive nature enables diverse applications in optical switching, photonic devices, and data storage technologies. However, challenges such as regioselectivity, photoisomerization control, purification, and reaction conditions must be carefully managed. These can be effectively addressed through rational molecular design, optimization of synthetic parameters, and the adoption of advanced purification techniques.
