An Excellent, Practical, Informitive Book & Easy to Read!

A must reading for anyone wanting to learn Java and/or Visual Cafe. The book is well written. Examples all work and they are useful and practical. It is well suited for introductory as well as advanced Java Developers. Authors are highly responsive to e-mail and very helpful. Hopefully a 2nd edition with more on JDBC aspects will be done in the future.

Excellent for beginners and definite asset for pros

Symantec Visual Cafe Sourcebook lives up to it's name. It will do what the Symantec online tutorial should do; teach you how to use vis cafe from zero, help experts improve their efficiency, and provide quick usable references

Excellent introduction to Visual Cafe and Cafe Pro.

Jardin's Visual Cafe Source Book is an excellent beginner's introduction to Visual Cafe. The background chapters on Java and development were well sequenced. The book covered all sections of the development environment and explained each component in detail. Very easy reading also. My only complain is that the exercise steps were in paragraph form rather than bullet or outline form. So, as you performed the exercises, you had to rescan and refocus to continue the step by step instructions. Otherwise - Great Effort!

A Java dream

Symantec Visual Cafe Sourcebook is geared for novice programers and advanced developers alike. The book cover all aspects of Java development, from creating an Applet to muti-threaded debugging. Little is provided in the way of a Java language reference. However, I teach you how to develope Java Applets and applications without getting to much into the code. You will like it!
