culture and coffeetable

The book is a curious combination of 2 types of books commonly seen in the US. The first type is that designed for the coffeetable. You know, the large format hardcovers, with glossy pages of photos. Typically of some artwork or scenery. Here indeed the book might appear to fit in. There are numerous black and white plates, and some in colour. Often these take up a full page size. The colour photos of the Swiss scenery are quite charming. But the text is that of a serious sociology-type monograph. Describing salient points about current Swiss society. Chapters are written by different authors, and amount to essays on these aspects.
