This book is a love story of long ago. William Shank and Corda Buchanan begin their courting by writing sweetheart letters about daily living in southeastern Iowa. The letters become the framework for the story of a lasting love and a devotion that transcends time. The reader will see this in Will's first letter to Corda dated August 13, 1898 that contains a poem Will wrote that ends with "Tis only then I shall think of you no more." Corda saved the letters, gave them to their daughter, Elizabeth, who passed them to the author of this book. This family legacy is penned with the author's narrative and reflections of love letters as well as the insertion of the original letters written from 1898 to 1906.
