Georgina Denbigh plots with her friend Tabby to match up her father with Tabby's governess. The match is to accomplish two things: provide her lonely father with companionship and to prevent Tabby's nasty father from forcing the governess into marrying him. To help accomplish this she, unknowingly to her brother, decides to have him and Tabby pretend a tendre for each other and sends for him. Unfortunately he does not arrive alone and before he arrives something turns up that appears to make his help unnecessary so the plot is not revealed. Lord Chesterton, his best friend, who has not seen Georgina since she was a child arrives to share the holidays with his friend's family and keeps referring to her as a child. As with most lighthearted romances misunderstandings occur but all turns out at the end with everyone matched up nicely. The ironic part of the story is her brother and Lord Chesterton had come down to the country to escape the marriage trap in London. Apparently fate by the name of Georgina stepped in. An enjoyable read.
