While this edition may be a little outdated (am not aware of a newer one?), it is a great city guide for natives or suburbanites. Describes the different neighborhoods, where to eat off the beaten path, and avoids most of the well known adn tourist-y stops that you can find out about in any other Chicago City guide. We all know about the museums, the water tower, the zoos, etc.....this is a guide to the unexpected and the off beat. Also a good choice for someone moving to the city or to a new neighborhood in the city as it tells where to go in which neighborhood for 24 hour laundry or secondhand shopping. Also tells of resources for legal, religious, and employment services. Not a book for a tourist necessarily, but for a local or suburbanite, or for someone relocating within or to Chicago. Good, interesting reading with lots of tid-bits and history, even.
