This is one of the best books I've ever read. I bought it as a paperback many years ago. The poor thing is ratty looking from all the times I've read it, and the paper is yellow. The story starts out, you think, being about the difficult relationship between a woman who stretches herself thinly between lawyer, mother, and wife. Her husband, who is supposedly Swiss, is not very happy with the very poor job (he feels) she is doing. Her clothes, hair and makeup are never right. She never shows up on time. He's very critical. Then he disappears. It seems her perfect husband is nothing that she believes him to be. The author leads you on a chase to discover who he really is, and what he's really up to, with surprising twists and turns. I highly recommend!!
