Susie from Sydney
Some days we forget on purpose. Others we're not given a choice.
Susie Calloway has always been good at leaving things unfinished-half-read books, abandoned hobbies, apartments with bare walls she never quite made into a home. Permanence has never been her strong suit.
Then she's given a reason she can no longer postpone it.
Instead of waiting for her world to grow smaller, Susie does something no one expects-including herself. She packs two suitcases, leaves Sydney behind, and spends a year determined to build a life so full that even memory couldn't erase what it meant.
In a quiet coastal town, she gathers ordinary moments the way other people collect souvenirs: ferry tickets, grocery receipts, pressed flowers, photographs, letters she'll never send. She falls into the lives of strangers who slowly become family, and begins creating an archive of proof that she was here.
Then the forgetting begins.
Entire days disappear without warning.
The evidence remains.
A hotel key from a room she doesn't remember.
Notes written in her own handwriting to someone named Blue.
Photographs she has no memory of taking.
As the missing pieces multiply, Susie is forced to confront a question more frightening than forgetting itself:
What if the person she used to be understood something she still doesn't?
Heartfelt, quietly funny, and profoundly moving, Susie from Sydney is a literary novel about memory, identity, ordinary kindness, and the invisible ways people carry each other through impossible seasons. Perfect for readers of Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, Remarkably Bright Creatures, The Midnight Library, and Before the Coffee Gets Cold.
Because some days disappear. But the love inside them doesn't.
