This book is a must read if you are a part of the human race

As a practicing physician, I am all too aware that the "Medical Industrial Complex" is a powerful force neutralizing most independent thought. This book is especially refereshing because it exists. It is not not Freudian. It is not Jungian. It is not, thankfully, a standard text. This book is a collection of life's mysteries critically examined and thoughtfully interpreted by an author who is simply smarter than you are.

What to DO to emerge safely from life's crises and move on

The book emphasizes that getting through death, divorce, and other crises requires work and reasoning and practice. The author shows how beliefs adopted in childhood actually slow down or prevent survival and health. Watson believes there is a strong relationship between failure to do this work and chronic depression. He is sympathetic that many were not taught grief work tasks while growing up, but he does not try to spare the unlucky ones as adults from the responsibility of learning and practicing grief work tasks.
