During one of our many discussions, grand-daughter Allison, observed that her life was becoming complicated, adding that life must have been simpler when I was young with none of the pressures she had to endure in today's world. Hr comments struck me as a good excuse to record a few of my early experiences in those "simple times." One memory led to another, historical events, the depression, weather and other factors that affected how we lived and survived. This project was sandwiched among other family obligations and activities. Approximately ten years elapsed between when I began writing and reached the conclusion. It is not intended to serve as a lesson about dealing with hardships or self-pity. Rather, I felt a sense of satisfaction that, not only Allison, but also others might enjoy my story.
