Surviving Grady, A Journal of Unhealthy Red Sox Obsession During the Greatest Season Ever, puts you inside the heads of two obsessive Red Sox fans as they laugh, cry, fantasize about a Carl Yastrzemski robot, and drink their way through the greatest baseball season ever. From opening day to the World Series, Surviving Grady is a raucous, off-the-wall recounting of the Red Sox' drive toward baseball immortality, from the slightly askew perspective of writers Tim McCarney (Sky Ape) and Tom Deady as they experience the Red Sox' historic championship. It's like having the entire 2004 season in convenient book format Note: this is a prose book, not a graphic novel.
If you followed the sox that magical 2004, you have to read this. Even though you could see a lot of this from the web site its much more comfortable to sit and relax in the recliner and take it all in from relative comfort of that all American throne. When you read of El Bencho, who later in the book is en fuego you will die laughing. Not for those who want a serious read, and you don't have to be a sox fan to appreciate this. You can vividly picture the Boston Irish fanatic from the pages of this book.

Surviving Grady has become one of my morning rituals. It is funny, irreverent and informative regarding all things Red Sox. This book takes you through all the ups and downs of the most incredible baseball season in innovative and hysterically funny ways.
Chock full of good memories

Having discovered the Surviving Grady blog sometime around the beginning of the 2004 season, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of this book. And man, it was worth the wait. Reading all those entries again just brought back so many good memories. I HIGHLY reccommend this book to every Red Sox fan. It's absolutely hilarious, full of sharp wit, intense feeling, and Alan Embree robots. Plus, you get to see reactions to the WS victory by various readers of the blog (including me O_O). Of all the books that have come out since the Red Sox victory, this is one of the true gems. At the risk of sounding like a naggy salesperson...if you're a Red Sox fan, get this book now!

Red and Denton have kept me looking forward to reading their blog every morning for a long time now. Their dry wit and satirical take on all things sox is unique and their humor unmatched. It's so much more than baseball talk. Surviving Grady opens the door to a world of talking head warmers, Kevin Millar plopped into the middle of classic literature and Mark Bellhorn lovin, and whats better than that?
Roll up for the mystery tour

These two gentleman, and I use that term loosely, have kept me entertained for the magical ride that was the 2004 season. Having the chance to relive the rants by evil George Steinbrenner, Brian Cashman's scarf taste in music and the lusting after Kit Hoover and Mrs. Johnny Damon brings back some fond memories. On yes, there was some brilliant baseball talk sprinkled in there as well.
