There are no photos but high quality line drawings in black and white which illustrate the points. The granny knot, square knot, surgeons double loop knot, and Miller's knots are covered with single hand, both hand, and instrument ties. There is quite a bit of text as captions with the diagrams. I think this is one of the very best books on surgical techniques. The needle driver is very well covered showing things like vertical and horizontal mattress suturing. It is about 44 pages long. Good buy for the money.
