This children's book explores the story of Wily Pollliwog, the world's first frog. Wily struggles to understand the way he was created, and with the help of some friends, including Dragonfly Sly and the shark Jesse Sunkpuddle, he evolves in a way never thought possible. The story is fun for children and adults alike. It includes some pop-culture references that will amuse adult readers. As a father three times over, I've found that the best children's stories work on more than one level, and Surf & Turf (as the title suggests) fits that bill. It's an uplifting allegory on the role mentors can play in a child's path to self discovery.
