Sunshine Rider takes off from page one and keeps you going right up until the end. The story follows the adventures of 17 year old Wylie Jackson from one mistake to the next. While constantly running, Wylie encounters many interesting characters. The story is sprinkled with jokes that are funny enough to get you laughing out loud (and consequently turning a few heads...especially if you are reading in the library). Wylie is a likable character even with all his flaws, and his narration is a lot like Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn. Anyone who liked that book will enjoy this one as well. I am now anxiously awaiting Moonshine Rider which I'm guessing is the sequel to this one.
Sunshine Rider brightened my day!

I pick up any kind of book that invovles the words 'Rider', 'Texas', or 'Horse', and this time.. i CERTAiNLY wasn't disapointed! Wylie certainly grows on you, and the story's twists and turns can captivate almost anyone. Some may find it flakey.. but anyone with a light sense of humor and anyone who's ever 'chewed the fat' (gotta have done it to know what it means.) will enjoy it. The ending leaves you smiling, although perhaps twisted around. All in all, a GREAT book!--And when you finish, a dare you to say that you dont want a pet Cattalo of your very own!--
Sunshine Rides into a Disney movie

I loved this book and I don't care for Westerns, usually, but was intrigued by the title. Then I couldn't put it down. A young boy experiencing his purpose with adventures from medicine men to spiritual gurus on the open range with his pet cattalo. I'm anxiously awaiting the movie!
A Humorous, Original Tale of the West

This was a funny, original, and surprisingly moving story about a young man and his cow/buffalo. Any book that can be as entertaining as this one deserves a five-star rating. I have already recommended it to both adult and young friends. Congratulations on such a wild, woolly and wonderful book, Mr. Hardman
Touching and funny

This book is one of the better kids' books I've read in a while. While funny, the book is also a touching story about coming of age. It will make kids laugh at the pain of growing up. The book is also a history lesson, staying true to its period despite the outrageous events that occur.
