Hermosa Beach in the 1970s was a wonderful place to grow up. I'm sure that most people say that about their hometowns. We had sunshine and fog, the beach and the town, the hills and the valleys, a movie theater, a bookstore, and places to buy comic books and records. My dad, Chris Shaw, was rarely without a camera. When we went for walks, he had a camera with him. These photos document Hermosa Beach as it was then. Much of it looks the same, although the businesses occupying many storefronts have changed and some of the houses have been torn down and replaced with larger houses.
