Great Book!

Trish Perry has done it! A wonderful combination of humor, romance, and authenticity. Sonny was amazingly vulnerable, yet mature about her desires to know who she is. I loved it! Believing the lies that her mom and aunt had believed can only be exposed spiritually. Perry did it very well.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach A Novel Trish Perry 2009 Harvest House Publishers Contemporary Fiction Reviewed by Cindy Loven Sunset Beach, A Novel. Oh my what a book, truthfully, this is my first book of Trish Perry's to read and I am a dedicated fan for sure NOW!! This book is amazing, Trish Perry has brought us a wonderful story about life, even with happy endings, and it has some sad endings also. Your saying endings???There were several things in the life of Sonata (aka Sonny) Miller that she planned on dealing with on her weeks vacation at the beach with her mother. Just graduating from college, getting ready for grad school, Sonny was tired of not knowing her heritage, and she had done some snooping and had a surprise planned. She hired a beach cottage for the week and asked her mom to spend the week as her graduation present, unknown to her mother, Sonny had also hired a private investigator to find her aunt, and her aunt had been invited to the beach house also. Teresa Miller, knew Sonny was up to something, but was not sure what, so she brought along a protegee' hoping to defuse the situation. This story will unfold, returning a lost love to Sonny, allowing her to know her family history and meet family members she never knew about. Trish Perry has done an excellent job of bringing us a story that deals with more baggage in people's lives, than an airport luggage claim department. I promise this book delivers it all!! Tears, laughter, joy, sadness, it is all in Sunset Beach. The close of the book has discussion questions about the chapters, and also a preview of another of Trish's books. This book was based on a original concept by Sally John and contains a foreword from Sally John. [...]

A Terrific Summer Read

Trish Perry has penned another wonderfully heartwarming and romantic story with her latest title "Sunset Beach". This novel particularly spoke directly to where I am in relationship to several members of my family. Deception is at the heart of this charming and challenging story of a girl who knows nothing about her family because her mother has never told her anything. After discovering her mother has a sister, the aunt she's never met, Sonny invites the newly discovered family member to a vacation home on the beach where she has invited her mom to spend a week with her to celebrate Sonny's graduation from college...without telling mom. This is a terrific read that finishes too quickly. If you've read "The Beach House", you will remember the eclectic Mission Beach cottage and the godly neighbor Julian. Zeke is also back for an appearance that always seems to be just right with God's timing. I'm almost tempted to begin it again right now.

READ THIS AND BE BLESSED

I love a book about family relationships. Trish did not let me down with her book Sunset Beach. The healing of a whole family who had been separated for twenty-four years gives a message of hope. Sometimes we are afraid to reach out to those who have hurt us, to those we have hurt. This story shows how God can help put back the pieces of broken relationships IF all those involved are willing to let Him. Trish does a marvelous job with characterization. Each character in this story, at least the one's staying at the Beach House, have their own personal problems and are three dimensional people that I came to love. I hope we will hear more about them in future stories.

Take me on vacation!

Sunset Beach has a cabin that Sonny Miller can't wait to rent. Her mom has promised her a week anywhere she chooses for her graduation gift. Sonny has plans for more than relaxing though. What Sonny's mother doesn't know is Sonny is determined to use her new psychology degree to get answers she's wanted for years, like who is Sonny's father? Sonny has few plans to throw her mom off balance. She's invited her mom's sister, Melanie to spend the week too. A sister Sonny didn't know her mom had until she hired a private investigator. Melanie has a few secrets of her own about Sonny's mom and the identity of her father. Sonny's mom is on to her though, she knows Sonny is going to want something from her this week and she's not going to give her the chance to uncover secrets. She's brought along a surprised guest of her own, the charming Irina, her protégé. She'll have to spend most of her time working with Irina which should protect her from Sonny's prying into her past. And if that's not enough there is a hunk of gorgeous, that shows up from Sonny's past. Perry brings this delightfully light yet, serious book full circle by the end. I'd recommend it for a beach read or airplane ride. It has enough of a relaxing setting that you can feel the sand in your toes and yet has plenty of intrigue to make you turn the page.
