Sunrise at Marston's Lake

Sunrise at Marston's Lake is the compelling tale of a family's darkest hour and God's unending grace.
Luke and Mike Campden are close as any two brothers can be. From Luke's decision to buy his first car to Mike's nerves about the first day of high school, these young men have the support of their parents, friends, and the entire community in their steps toward coming of age. Living in a small town near Chicago in the 1950s, the Campden family embraces those Christian values and exemplifies finding simple joy amid the struggles of daily life. However, when heart-wrenching tragedy strikes their family, the Campdens must lean on their community and their faith in God to get them through, no matter what comes. The family's quest for courage, truth, forgiveness, and peace in the wake of terrible grief is raw and inspiring. Sunrise at Marston's Lake takes readers on an honest journey through the pain of loss and into the love of God that endures all things.
Excerpt from Chapter VI:
The next morning was Sunday, December fifth, and Westin, Ella, and Mike went to church. It was the first Sunday of Advent, and all the wreaths and Christmas decorations were hung in the front, candles lined the sides of the sanctuary, and Helen Rosebury was playing the Christmas hymns on the organ. As they were ushered in and sat down, Westin noticed in the bulletin that the sermon Rev. Grady was going to preach that morning was about, of all things, forgiveness. He showed Ella and Mike, and Mike looked up at him, remembering what they had talked about the night before. Life is never easy, but a new day had dawned, a new season, and the time for healing had finally come. The scripture passage Rev. Grady spoke from that morning came from the New Testament, the fifth chapter of the book of Matthew: "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
