Part one, "Welcome to the Dojo" is about the dojo experience. Some essays are geared to prospective students that have never entered a dojo (place to study the way: training hall), others are intended for beginners, still others for intermediate and advanced students. In part two, "Reflections on Budo in the Contemporary West", Hanshi (master instructor) Annesi opines on Mixed Martial Arts and several other subjects. What was originally intended as a stimulus for prospective martial artists to take action and make a reasonably decision about where and what art to study, has become a stimulus for martial artists around the world to think more deeply about the arts they already study and the martial world of which they are a part.
