Jim and Pat Baize found each other at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO in the autumn of 1967. They developed a strong bond and fell in love, leading to their marriage in June 1969. Jim earned his Bachelor of Theology degree in 1970 from the same college, and Pat graduated with a degree in Christian Education in the same year. They served as youth pastors in Taylorville, IL, and Pueblo, CO, before they began their 41year-long service at the Midway Baptist Church in San Diego, CA in November 1973.
During his time at Midway, Jim also received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. He held multiple positions in the Baptist Bible Fellowship International, including the President of Baptist Bible College West, and trustee for Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and Baptist Bible College, his alma mater. Jim has been a speaker at national conference meetings and numerous churches over his 50-year ministry. He also emerged victorious in the 1996 primary election for US Congress, 50th District. Currently, Jim serves as a Chaplain for the Coronado Police Department in Coronado, CA.
Pat was the driving force behind a successful women's ministry at Midway Baptist Church. Her contributions to the home and other ministries have been invaluable. They are proud parents of three grown children and grandparents to three grandchildren. Jim has authored a workbook for new converts titled, "Because I'm Saved." and Pat is currently working on several book ideas. After leaving Midway Baptist Church, they took up roles as the pastor and pastor's wife at the First Baptist Church of Coronado, CA. They currently live in South San Diego, CA.
