loved it!!!1

I loved this book, it was so much better than weekend in paris. I loved the idea of switching places with someone from the other side of the globe and get a different perspective on things

Perfect story

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. Two people working for the same advertising company, one in London and one in New York, swap positions for a month. Lloyd's pushy girlfriend Betsy insists on coming along for the ride and they stay in London, in Susannah's (just call me Suze) flat. Betsy can't believe the mess and disorderliness of it and at once sets to cleaning it up. Meanwhile Suze is staying in Lloyd and Betsy's flat and loving it. She is the boss's pet, despite setting off a fire alarm on the first day when she has a cigarette in the library, thence learning smoking at work in the States is completely unacceptable. When Lloyd loses his job, there's a strong smell of fish in the air -but no-one seems to notice except him. Suze by accident overhears a conversation and a bonk on the boardroom table after hours and things start clicking into place. She is the only one who can help Lloyd. Their phone conversations start to increase, and they both wonder -can you fall for someone who is a complete stranger? The ending is perfect -highly recommended

Sparkling chick lit with wonderful characters

I only recently discovered Robyn Sisman and I'm so glad I did--I've now devoured all four of her novels, and thoroughly enjoyed them all, but I must say this is my favorite. I found myself captivated by the story from the beginning, and drawn to both Suze and Lloyd. Though they seem like such opposites, Sisman does a really seamless job of showing, as the story progresses, how they are true soulmates. The central plot about the intrigue at the advertising firm is a bit far-fetched, but the story is so well-written, and the characters so likable, that I was only too willing to suspend disbelief. The premise of two characters who have never met falling in love with each other is a surprisingly romantic and satisfying one in Sisman's skilled hands. I'm eagerly waiting for her next book!

Must-read

After reading Weekend in Paris I almost gave up on Robyn Sisman. I loved Friends but was disappointed in her writing until I read Summer in the City. The book jumps back and forth between Lloyd in London and Suze in New York. Both characters are trying to find happiness in a weird and wacky world. Suze is a much loved character who resembles Bridget Jones and Becky Bloomwood. While Suze is fumbling around the New York office Lloyd is mastering London with his straight arrow ways. The mishaps that happen during Suze and Lloyd's job swap left me laughing out loud and wanting to read more. If you can't go on a holiday this year you can visit New York and London through Lloyd and Suze's eyes...a trip that won't disappoint. Definitely a must for summer reading!

Live vicariously through this character.

I really enjoyed this book. I could live vicariously through this single young woman as she travels to a new country and learns about people, relationships and herself. The same could be said about all of Robyn Sisman's books. It is a relaxing and easy read but hard to put down. You can feel the relationship growing between the two main characters. This is a great read.
