Only because it's the last...

(spoiler warning) I would recommend buying this book only because it is the last one in the Satin Slippers series but it is not the best one. Books 4 and 11 were my favorites. I still feel Leah should've ended up with that Russian guy, he was cool. Now that I have read all but two in the series I was a little disappointed with the ending of book 12, it is rather abrupt and left me wondering what would happen to Leah. In Summer Dance Leah is feeling a little left out in the romance department with her old rival Annie showing up and "stealing" her dance partner whom Leah may or may not have feelings for, Katrina announces she is falling in love too and everbody but Leah gets to dance in the final recital and Leah feels more left out than ever but Katrina's little brother is sure making eyes at Leah! Then Leah feels like a third wheel with Katrina and Annie's budding new friendship. Who hasn't experienced that at least once in their lives, always being the odd person out? But in the end Alex shows up at the recital to surprise Leah and with a few encouraging words from Madame, Leah feels better and even jokes with Alex about her lack of any summer romance and the way her summer has turned out at the dance camp. When Katrina's little brother greets Leah enthusiastically and Alex asks "Who's that?" Leah answers, "MY summer romance!" they laugh together and that's how the book ends. Kinda dissapointing for fans of the series who were curious to find out if Leah ever makes it into the ballet world. This book did not tie up any loose ends or introduce the reader to a book 11, it just ended. I have always been a fan of ballet and this series is full of great information and ballet terms to help the reader appreciate the beauty and hard work of classical dance.

Summer Romance

I am not sure if this is the last book in the series but I think that it might be. In this book Leah has gone to summer dance camp with Madame and Katrina. While at the summer dance camp she bumps into an old dance school rival who steals her partner and tries to constantly be around Katrina. As it turns out, the rival really just envies Leah for her wonderful friends and family and is really in love with her dance partner. Everything works out in the end, but not before Leah learns a lesson about friendship and competition.

A great ballet book for young girls.

This book is #12 in the Satin Slippers series. In this book the main character, Leah Stephenson, goes to Vermont for a summer dance program. While she is there she meets an old ballet school rival and things turn upside down. This book tells a great story about teenage girls trying to become ballerinas and dealing with all the emotions that go along with being a teenage girl. I would highly reccomend this book to anyone who loved dance or a young girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina.
